Ruth's White Face Ibis

My dear friend Ruth, of Montecastelli in Tuscany, where will be in just a few weeks, www.montecastelli.com is an incredibly talented photographer. She rarely sends me an e-mail without including her latest visual splendor and this one, captured at Mono Lake in the Eastern Sierras just East of Yosemite National Park, I just had to share with you.

i find the buttermilk powder does not contribute the flavor of natural buttermilk so i would have to say no.

can i use a mixture of buttermilk powder and water in place of buttermilk/yogurt/sourcream in baking? will it change the product in any way?

black cocoa is much darker and less chocolaty.

Hector - as soon as I deleted the program I realized I should have saved it in the event that someone might ask for a copy... sorry!

Rose - I live in Virginia. We get 3 different PBS stations here (not sure which one it aired on).

I keep calling my local PBS, so far no luck!

Patrincia, if you manage to send me tape, I can put it on DVD!

Rose - I've been patiently waiting for my TiVo to surprise me one day with "baking Magic", but so far nothing. However, I was delighted the other day to catch a segment you did for J&W Master Class. You are such a good teacher - can't wait to see the dvd that will accompany your new cake book.

Rose or one of her helpful readers,

I am looking for durum flour for Rose's pugliese in the bread bible. We have some great markets here, but all I can find is semolina (which I believe is durum, but more coarse). The only place I've found durum is online at KAF. But it seems silly to pay $5.95 in shipping for $3.95 of flour! Any other suggestions?

A clear example that photography can portray a subject well. Similar effect with my 4 slices of Ethereal Pear Charlotte!

Kristine - no, margarine in a tub is not the same as shortening.

Excellent photograph and an informative blog. Keep up the good work.

Nature's majesty captured so beautifully. It's so amazing the amount of potential energy and movement that can be conveyed in one still image....what talent your friend has Rose (and she lives in Tuscany too...lucky thing *sighs dreamily* :)
