King of Cakes Does the Plaza Hotel!
When Ron Ben Israel came to live in this country he claims to have known nothing about cakes or cake decorating. He learned baking from The Cake Bibleand cake decorating from the high priestess of pastillage flowers Betty Van Norstrand.
When The Plaza planned their 100th birthday celebration it was Ron they chose to make this extraordinary replica of the hotel in cake!
Ron teaches regularly at the French Culinary Institute and occasionally at different locations around the country.

What a project! A world record for sure. Having a cake of these dimensions made by Ben-Israel, I think money could not possibly buy. It is a labor of love!
Thank you for sharing, it is good to see where the submit of baking is! Beautiful cake, perfect, and from what I've read in the news, a best quality tasting cake and frosting!

I saw a piece on Ron and his amazing cake on the Martha Stewart Show a week or two ago... What an amazing project! Truly a work of art!

I saw his website after learning about him in a previous blog. How amazing! What a compliment to you, Rose, that he learned to bake cakes from you!
