The Most Beautiful Christmas Tree of My Memory
Dec 11, 2007 | From the kitchen of Rose
A few postings ago i mentioned viewing the Christmas Tree at Rockefeller Center and how I regretted not having brought my camera. No longer, however, because standing next to me was Kurt Liu on his first trip to New York from San Francisco and he had a very impressive looking camera mounted onto a tripod. I knew his photos would be better than anything I could have taken so I asked his permission to post it on this blog and he graciously agreed.
These two photos really capture the majesty and exquisite setting of the most spectacular Christmas Tree I've ever seen in all my years in New York. Only once did I happen to be at Rockefeller Center at the moment of the tree lighting and it was an experience I'll never forget.
Thank you Kurt for allowing us all to enjoy these two fantastic photos.
Happy Holidays,
Rose

In Rose's Christmas Cookies, the recipe for gingerbread (house) does not include eggs. All other recipes I have seen use eggs. A particular reason? Any comments?

Oh...now you have gone and made me "home-sick" for Manhattan at Christmas-time. Thank you for the gorgeous picture and Seasons Greetings to all of you.

I am astonished. Reminds me of Ben Israel's cake for Plaza Hotel. Tree looks really big, over 10 stories high. Thank you for sharing, Xmas-NY sets the mood for the holidays.

How stunning.
I was in NYC last week on work-related business and regret I wasn't able to make it to Rockefeller Center to see the tree in person. However, I see Kurt captured its majesty just perfectly ... thank you, sir, for sharing your talent with us!

kurt, despite the restrictions, your photos are works of art. i wonder if being a professional photographer isn't in your future (or maybe already in your present!)

It was great meeting you Rose, and thanks for using my photos! The tree was magnificent and I wish i had taken better pictures! They wouldn't let me set up tripods in some places in Manhattan and I couldn't have been able to with such a huge crowd anyways.

yes--it really hurts to have such a beauty cut down but then they usually only take trees that haven't much longer to live. the miracle is that it wasn't storm damaged all these years and all these storms! and isn't it wonderful that we have this photo to remember it by.

Thanks for sharing the photos, Rose. It was a really remarkable tree when I saw it for the first time as they discussed finding it. Too bad they can't last forever.
