The Pourfect Bowl Scraper
I just received my sample of the final "Scrape-A-Bowl and I need to go on record immediately to state that I did not approve this final product though a quote from me is on the box which says "This new beater is a work of art."
The concept is a good one but in my testing of a prior model before the final I found that the pressure of the blades against the inside of the bowl locked the bowl in place making it necessary to dislodge it with a rubber coated hammer. Also the jiggling of the head of the mixer caused the pin holding it in place to work its way out and the heavy head of the mixer fell onto my marble counter top which would have cracked it had I not caught it just in time.
I see that the new model is slightly shorter which may have solved this problem but until I try it again I can't swear to it!
Also as of yet I haven't seen approval from any of the major manufacturers using this attachment for their machines. I have heard that there is concern as to whether the friction against the bowl will gradually wear the motor.
The concept is excellent but I reserve judgement until I have the chance to test it further.

Do you know of an alternative way I could get in touch with them or a contact number for a company that is affiliated with them? I really want to continue with my order if they plan to legitimatly honor the purchase agreement. My plans are to contact my credit card company if there is no response by Friday. Sorry to put you in the middle but I thought you could advise me on what to do. Thank you for your help.

the only thing that can be done in these circumstances is to protest the charge with your charge card company.

Yes. I gave them my charge card number and it was charged to my account. What should I do?

i do love the hearth kit because of the thick stone and side walls but i'm not sure if the co. is still in business. you didn't actually pay for it and not receive it did you?

I was doing research on the hearth kitchen insert and noticed your written recommendation. Because of your recommendation I ordered one but have yet to receive it. Do you know anything about this company or have you heard anything about what is going on? Their website has been "temporarily" shut down. I have called and left numerous messages requesting someone to call me to let me know the status of my order. I have had no response. Any insight would be appreciated.

I just received my SideSwipe which doesn't look like the Pourfect Bowl Scraper, though it's meant to do the same thing. It has fins that should eliminate the binding to the bowl problem. I'll go whip up some cookies and report back.

i'll have to try that. are you saying yours jams when using a scraper type beater or that it jams with the kitchen aid attachments and the rubber band prevents it?

I keep a rubber band around the base of my Kitchen-Aid bowl, which keeps it from jamming into the base.

i did try the model for the new cuisinart mixer and you're right of course, it doesn't lock it on because the bowl has handles so easy to twist off. i'm sure with the KA lift models that obviously would not be a problem. the inside of the bowl gets marked from the blades but that may not be a concern if efficiency is more valued than perfect looking bowl interiors!
initially the mixture gets pushed up above the blades so i found i had to scrape but just one time.
tests by the manufacturer could be done to evaluate the effects of the friction on the motor which would make me feel more confident to recommend the scrapers. still it's a totally personal decision. if it stated on each scraper that it was approved by the specific maker of the stand mixer then i could endorse it but since this is not the case--at least yet--i legally must reserve judgement and can only report my experience.

Oops, computer issues today - that was me above.

Yes, I understand your comment about the motor... I was thinking along the lines of the KA lift models not experiencing the "locking of the bowl" you mentioned above, because the bowl doesn't screw into place on those models.

i will if it is sent to me but i still can't testify as to its effect on the motor.

Rose - will you be testing the model that fits on the KA lift models?
