EUREKA!!!
May 27, 2008 | From the kitchen of Rose
I have to write about this so I can stop eating it! several months ago I mentioned a fantastic bread I ate in Sweden a few years ago and that it was in an award winning Swedish cookbook in Swedish. A kind blogger from Sweden translated it for me and after spending several hours working it out in a user friendly manner for the semi-professional home baker I finally got to try it. And it is a winner!
The challenge to working it out is that, for starters, it requires not only one starter but two--a white wheat starter and a rye starter. Many people don't have any starter so when I post the recipe I'm going to add how to add old bread dough in its place. And for those who do have a starter, I've combined the white and rye starter into one, i.e. equal weight but adding the rye flour to the dough. Also, I'm using my usual old and stiff sourdough starter and instant yeast.
It's going to take me a few weeks to post this so it gives you time to purchase some pumpernickel flour (aka coarse rye) or medium rye and maybe get a starter going? It will be worth it.

Rose, your webmaster is great, give him a cake! The site now looks great on IE 6.0 at work. Must go, my break is coming to an end...

I also had this problem last night, looking at the site with IE 6.0 on the computer I use at work.
The site looks even worse when I use my ancient Mac laptop running Safari 1.3.2, but that doesn't concern me much because that version of Safari is SO obsolete...most sites don't support it. I switched over to Firefox which I'm happy to report worked just fine.
Once my husband gets done using the newer desktop Mac, I'll check out the site on Safari 3 and see how that works.

Thanks, Hector. Clearing the cache and relaunching IE doesn't work for me. I have IE 6.0. It could be that versions after 6.0 do not have this problem.
At least this makes people aware if they are experiencing the same thing. It does not impact any functions on the site luckily (from what I can tell).
Thanks, Zach

Zach, I don't think there is any issue with Internet Explorer neither, I've just tested it. Try hit the refresh button or clear your cache, I remember this helped me when I noticed that shuffle experience.

Thanks, Matthew. Yes, the problem seems to be isolated to Internet Explorer. I sent Rose a note; I'm sure she'll have her web guy on it soon for those who might be experiencing the same problem.
Thanks,
Zach

Is anyone else experiencing the problem with the book link side bar causing the first two columns of the page to drop down to the bottom of the screen? I'm only experiencing this in Internet Explorer, not Firefox. Just curious if the problem is isolated to my setup.
Thanks, Zach

I love fruited bread and can't wait to try this one. I have a sourdough starter in the refrigerator but also look forward to using the old dough method as I recently added old dough to a cranberry raisin bread with great success.
Thank you.

The new book sidebar is a great idea! Maybe you can add some of your other books eventually. I think most if not all are also available on amazon, although you might have to create your own thumbnails.
