My First Big Cake

Jennifer Giampetro sent me these delightful photos and it looks like not only was it her first big cake but it was someone else's first big cake too (see below)!

Thank you for your compliments on my first attempt at a big cake. I had a great time making it, a little each night after her bed time! (It was a yellow butter cake with lemon buttercream, lemon curd and fresh raspberries.) And thank you to Rose for posting the pictures and making me feel like a real baker! That was a nice surprise.

Happy Baking!

Your daughter is adorable. Great job on the cake, I love the colour combination. I like the idea of doing a smaller cake for your daughter to "dig" into.

Jennifer, THANK YOU for sharing. Pictures like these give (us) bakers so much motivation and meaning! Your little is so lovely, and what a big cake you take.

I LOVE how frosting is dabbed. Much more appetizing and warm than a smooth cake.

Happy baking, children is a great reason to bake, birthday after birthday. I had my share with my own birthdays and my 4 brothers. I still bake for my birthdays, plus now my 2 nephews.

It looks so festive and happy! Can you provide details on the buttercream and cake types?

How sweet... happy b-day to the little one!
