Question
Jun 05, 2008 | From the kitchen of Rose
As I'm sure you've all noticed, many improvements have been made to our blog over the mast week making it more functional and more attractive.
Now that we have the option to respond to a question without having to scroll down to the bottom of the thread, would you prefer having the comments appear most recent ones first instead of last?
Please cast your vote!

Try Rose's biscotti recipe in her Christmas cookie book. It is perfect! The texture and flavour are so good. It is not hard at all and yes the recipe contains oil.

Anybody made Biscotti that is good. I tried a batch with my friend. The recipe contains no oil which we think is good and the biscotti can last long. However the finished product is far too hard . it is pratically not chewable . Should it be like that? I soaked it in coffee and need to stay for sometime to make it softer. What is the key to crisp , crunchy biscotti?

rose refers as old starter to the discarded started from each feeding. you keep this old starter always frozen. thaw to use.

Several of the recpies call for an "old sourdough starter" What is this? Is it any old sourdough bread?

I am in agreement with Hector and others who want it to be like reading email. The newest at the top. Otherwise known as reverse chronological order. However, sometimes it is very difficult to link the Rose answer to the exact question. That would be very helpful.

I prefer the newer posts at the top of the page alleviating the need to scroll all the way to the bottom.
Thanks for asking,
Lori V.

I don't believe the earlier poster meant the emailed comment followups. He meant that the RSS feed in a newsreader is showing every single post on the blog as a New Entry every single time someone adds a new comment. It has made the feed unusable. Hopefully you can get around to having that changed. Thanks!

Why not just give us the option to view it the way we want? I still prefer it at the bottom because it makes temporal sense to me. I find it easier especially if I have not been following the thread to find the beginning of the topic if the new posts are at the bottom. Anyway, I vote for choice although I realize there probably isn't one. C'est la vie.

I must admit I found it a bit strange at first but like everything else you get used to it after a while. It is because it has been changed we are finding fault, if it had been like this from the beginning we would just accept it!!

Oh wait a minute - I see... you click on "reply to this" instead of scrolling all the way down the thread to reply. I revise my last post... this works well.

Um.... I just posted a message on one of the threads and it seems a little awkward to read new posts at the top of the thread and then have to scroll all the way down to add a comment.
I prefer the old way when you could just click on a thread, be directed to the latest comments, and then post a response.

I agree, most recent response on top with the original topic the messages address always static at the very top.

no, it can only be one way or the other and either way not everyone will be happy but the main thing is they are all there.

I prefer the new posts at the bottom.
Is there a way for each user configure it for there own preference as on other sites?
Thanks,
Janina

Is it possible to not include comments in your rss feed? Every time somebody posts a comment my feed reader tells me that your feed was updated.

Right now, when you do a search, it takes you to the general thread but does not take you to the actual post that matches your search. Some threads are so long that I never find the post that matches the search. Is there a way that the search result will take you to the actual post that matches your search? thanks, Louise

I think it would be like reading email though, and we are all used to that. As you reply, the older messages move to the bottom.

To my opinion system now is good i.e. that you´ll scroll down to find the recent comments. To me it is easier to follow the conversations and who answered and what.

I think that might be better, especially for the older, denser threads that already take longer to load. Is it possible you could set a test thread, or do they all have to change at once?
