PBS 102: Banner Banana Cream Pie & Chocolate Lace Pecan Tart

May 06, 2009 | From the kitchen of Rose

There is little more luscious than a banana cream pie or toothsome than this pecan tart. Heavy cream and Lyle's golden syrup conspire to making the pecan filling less sweet and more flavorful than usual. This is the perfect Thanksgiving dessert. THE RECIPES

White chocolate curls is the 'icing on the cake' for the banana pie, and bittersweet chocolate lace the most perfect touch for the pecan pie.

This pecan dessert is trully the no-fear pecan pie, thinly baked as a tart doesn't look as clogging compared to a traditional filling-filled deep pecan pie. Many people's wishes is for a thin slice of pecan pie, I serve this tart during my 2-turkeys-3-pies-Thanksgivings and guests return for second servings of "I-really-don't-like-pecan-pie."

Be sure to try using the cream cheese flaky pie crust for the pecan tart, blind baked, it is heaven on heaven. And you can also add a decorative border with leaf cutouts. I pre-construct little aluminum foil supports and fit it between the crust and the tart pan after blind baking, this supports the leaves which are added during the last minutes of baking.

My husband loves banana cream pie and this one looks fabulous. Is there a link somewhere for the recipe? I've purchased The Cake Bible but don't have the Pie and Pastry Bible. Thanks!
