with the help of hector (had to change the width to 480 pixels but we both actually liked the unintentionally cropped version!) nice to have a choice though.

Rose, To post an avatar picture you need to register it at gravatar.com. Then every time you post, your avatar comes up. I think yours sometimes comes up as I have seen it - the line drawing of you. However, the gravatar site is case sensitive so the email address entered when posting a comment must exactly match the email address on the Gravatar site.

hey mitch--how did you figure out how to put your photo on a blog posting?! please share--i'm sure many people would love to add photos and i have no idea how to do it except through moveable type, i.e. as the blog administrator.
brian--it was great fun having you and your friend 'find' me at the restaurant today!

Rose, this is looks so beautiful and delicious! I'm totally going to make this soon!
It's my first time posting, but I've been reading your blog for ages, and I went to the lecture/demonstration you gave at NYU in January '08 and I've been working from the cake bible for years! Thank you so much for all of your work!
Also, incidentally, I just spotted you at an outside cafe in the Village with my friend Lucy, and we were utterly star struck, and told you how much we appreciate you, and you were very generous about letting us disturb your lunch, so thank you!
I would love to share some of the creations I've made with the guidance from the cake bible, and will do so as soon as I figure out how! :)
love and thanks,
brian

Thanks for suggesting this, Rose! I made the Cooks Illustrated gyro-like sandwiches this weekend which resulted in extra yogurt and lemons being on hand. I also have some blueberries, since they looked so good. Thus, I've whipped up some lemon curd tonight and soon will have it all for a snack before bed!

Had it not been intentional, I would have been surprised! Vermeer is one of my two all-time favorite artists (Edward Hopper the other), so yes, I love that painting you're referring to.

did you ever see "girl with a pearl earring"? vermeer chose her as his house maid because he saw her preparing dinner and how she laid out the vegetables by color and shape. that's me--always visual.
thanks for noticing!

The blue bowl was a great choice with the blueberries. I don't know if that was intentional, but it was a great color for the photo.

good job, let me just say one thing, maybe you can make a recipe for 'strawberry' curd and this can be red, white, and blue for July 4th! perhaps blood orange curd...
