Rose's Heavenly Cakes Preview Has Begun on Marie Wolf's Blog!

Jun 01, 2009 | From the kitchen of Rose

Happy June 1 and happy indeed as the first cake and frosting (including commentary, photos and recipes) from my new book has appeared. Check out http://www.heavenlycakeplace.blogspot.com

This unusual combination of spice cake and peanut buttercream was inspired by Lillan Hayward, mother of Woody’s T'ai Chi master Sifu Ray (funny coincidence both she and Marie are from the Twin Cities! But Marie says she chose this as her first cake to try because her husband Jim loves peanut butter.)

This is my newest peanut buttercream and I'm very pleased with it. In fact I'm combining it with my new devil's food cake for a special birthday party this coming weekend in Hope!

Yay! I am a huge fan of both Rose and Marie, and LOVED following Marie as she baked her way through The Bread Bible. I was so hoping she would choose another RLB book - THANK YOU, Rose, for sending her an advanced copy! While there is NO chance I wouldn't pick up Heavenly Cakes as soon as it's available, Marie's witty writing style and wonderful pictures are such a treat.

I haven't posted here too much, but have followed Rose's journey in preparing the book for publication. What an interesting (and - wow - exhausting) process. Thank you, Rose.

Does the new "heavenly cake" has the same recipes as in "cake bible"? a lot?

Wow, an advance copy? That's almost worth starting a blog for!!! It will be fun to follow her progress through the book.

Looking forward to baking preview recipes for the Father's Day Bake-Off!

Marie just changed the settings on her new blog so that anyone can comment. You shouldn't need to sign up now.

I also tried to leave a comment on Marie's new blog but was frustrated in not being able to do so! I have been an avid reader of her bread blog so I am looking forward to her new one, I know what an entertaining writer she is. Perhaps when I get my head around her new"rules' I'll be able to leave some nice comments for her!

I will comment here because I was unable to sign up at Marie's blog as I do not have any of the types of accounts that are required to create a profile. I am not very computer literate so maybe I don't understand what I am supposed to do.
I am very much looking forward to reading Marie's cake blog as I enjoyed her bread blog so much. Thanks so much Rose and Marie for providing us with this window into the new book.
Take care,

Sparky

Rose,
I am interested in hosting a cooking class at my bakery having you as the host. I am going to assume you will be going on a book signing tour once the book comes out and will most likely be coming to Southern California. Please let me know if this is something you are interested in. I can be reached via my email or phone.
PLEASE let me know,
Lori V.
