November and December Bake Off

Now that the holiday season is around the corner, how about another bake off. We have not had one in a while. Since earlier this year, I think.

I’m open to any suggestion. Should it be pies maybe for November? How about Holiday theme for December? That way it’s a broader topic and we can pretty much post about anything we make for the holidays?

Hi Rose - I’m a devoted fan. Have 5 of your books, plus Heavenly Cakes on Nook Color. I bake a lot of treats for several friends who are unable to do so form themselves. It is not possible to make and deliver baked goods the same day. Also some people would like to refrigerate or freeze treats, to serve at a later date, or share with friends when they visit. Would love to make the “Heavenly Coconut Seduction Cake”, but am concerned with preserving its freshness over a period of days. Can it be refrigerated or frozen?

Just want to let everyone knows that Michaels is having 50% off any regular price item from today (Dec 9) through Monday (Dec 13). They also seem to have the Nordic Ware Wreath Pan on sale for $20 - though the 50% coupon cannot be combined with clearance item. To get the 50% coupon you need to go to Michaels and print it out - it’s on the main page.

December Bake-Off Topic

There was some discussion of December and January Bake-Off topics in another thread, but just wanted to check with you all and see what’s up.

For December, we could:
-skip Bake-Off because we are all crazy busy
-make Bake-Off theme “Holiday Baking” because we are all crazy busy and don’t want to add anything to our to-do list
-do “Pies” for our theme, in spite of being crazy busy

For January, may I suggest:
-Somthing from your personal bucket list, i.e., something you’ve always wanted to do but haven’t yet tackled.
-or citrus, ‘tis the season for Meyer lemons, Seville oranges, etc.

What do you guys think? Other options/suggestions welcome.

* Minimum 2.5 GPA
