You can get cake/cupcake carriers at Wal-mart and the grocery store - they’re not as cute as these, but they are cheap.

You’re right, they are not as cute as these ones.

Patricia, take a look at this cake stand. It is awesome!

I found these really good, disposable cup cake carriers. I ordered them on line from a company called http://www.wesellcoffee.com It isn’t just coffee...and they have a great selection of cake boxes, carboard circles and , yes, disposable cup cake carriers.  I’ve stocked up on boxes and circles.  I was spending a fortune at NY cake and baking buying gold cake circles and boxes just a few at a time.  I don’t have a lot of storage space, but I made room for the boxes, circles and cupcake carriers...in this case it was really worth it.

HUH? Well, I have made a zillion cupcakes for kids and it never occurred to me that I was having trouble schlepping them. Come ON! This is silly! Even frosted and decorated cupcake transport is a piece of CAKE (sorry). Just put them in the cupcake pans, cover with foil and head off to the school. I rest my cakes (sorry again, my husband is a lawyer and a punner...).

Mona : )

PS I would stock up on cake circles etc. if I could find any in Bangalore. I did buy a sweet cake carrier from Mackenzie-Childs last time I was home in the Bay Area. I couldn’t resist the whimsy of it! Made me think of Alice in Wonderland for some reason. I use it even when I’m at home and am taking the cake from the kitchen to the table.

Choose your splurges well. Make sure they make you smile.

Mona:
I use tons of cake circles...so I bought this huge box of them on line...I have them stashed discreetly all over my tiny apartment (in a stock pot, in a book cabinet with a door, some in my night stand...I know its silly...but they are sooo expensive at NY cake and baking (best place in NYC to get this stuff)...and all it is is some cardboard with gold foil on it...buying in bulk worked well here.  Buying them online was great...they were delivered right to my door. Gotta love that.
