This is Julie’s Orange Chocolate Crown Charlotte. She’s on vacation and I’m posting it on her behalf.

This seemed like a good cake for our transitional “mud season”, blending fresh orange flavors (very spring-like) with slightly heavier cognac and chocolate (here in New England we are barely a week past what I hope will be our last snow of the season).  I loved the flavors of the bavarian cream, sort of like a very sophisticated orange creamsicle with a tinge of Grand Marnier.  And light whipped ganache is always a favorite of mine anywhere it pops up.  This was my first attempt at ladyfingers, next time I will try to pipe them so they will make thinner layers around the filling.

I made the Chocolate Chip Charlotte.  This is my first time making a Charlotte.  It was a lot of fun and it came together pretty fast. 
I accidently omitted the ground almonds in the Choc.Chip Whipped Cream but no one seemed to notice.

Both charlottes look lovely!

I’m making a Ethereal Lemon Charlotte but you’re going to have to wait until Sunday to hear about it—right now it’s still a work in progress.

Tammy, your Charlotte looks really, really good. I made the Chocolate Chip Charlotte too.

I agree, it was a lot of fun to make and sharing them with each other would have been wonderful.

Here’s my Chocolate Chip Charlotte. I was not able to take a picture of the whole Charlotte. After I unmolded it I ran upstairs to get the camera and my kids decided to help themselves to a piece. Needless to say it wasn’t cut neatly.

Emily just commisioned me for her baby shower cake for June and I was thinking on cheesecakes.  But first is my birthday cake in May, a surprise from me and Rose and Hawaii…

I was so impressed looking at these Charlottes and even more impressed after looking at the recipes in the Cake Bible!  I am not in your league ladies,  they look so professional, my skills are more amateur I’m afraid.  Well done all of you!

Beautiful job, everyone! My husband and kiddoes just headed off for a hike, so I’m hoping to get my Chocolate Chip Charlotte finished up and posted later today!
