When we started the bake-off I offered to keep track of it. So…....here’s the schedule so far. I’ll update it as we go along and get more suggestions. This way all the info will be in one place.
May 30/31 - Yeasted Bread
Father’s Day - Recipe from Rose’s Heavenly Cakes
July 1 /4 - Pie
August - Anything with seasonal fruit
September - TBA
October - TBA
November - TBA
December - TBA
Rozanne, I’m not sure that we got a consensus on May 30/31. I know many are having trouble doing the bake-off once a month, so this one might be a bit soon after the last one. It’s no problem for me as I bake bread nearly every day, but I think we should decide when everyone else chirps in.
We did get a few replies about the May 30 yeasted bread. Maybe we’ll even get a few bread types to join in- Gene, Luca, would you all like to help us out on this one?
Rozanne, did you want to do the yeasted bread then? Or wait until September? What about the rest of you?
We have four members for the yeasted bread so far judging by the postings on the other thread (Julie, Anne, Barbara, Annie and myself). If we decide not to do it I’ll just remove it. Afterall we are a “no rules bake-off” team. By the way I put it down for May b/c I think someone said it might be too hot to bake bread during Summer and May is still not that hot. I"ll go with the flow. So let me know and I’ll update the schedule.
You have to do a written test, then a practical one and there is a fee. Just kidding. All you have to do is bake what’s on the schedule and post the pics. Maybe a short description of what you learned from making the recipe, any tips, what went wrong etc. There is no set recipe. Just a theme. We use Rose’s books of course. We’d love to have you join us.
As a bread type, I think that we could narrow it down to a category of bread - I suggest a sweet dough. Then we can do many more categories from the Bread Bible in the future!
Can’t join you guys for yeast doughs on 30/31 even though I would love to make the brioche. I am in charge of the cakes for my friend’s 40th birthday party with about a 100 people so I have my hands full. Looking forward to seeing all the pictures and comments!

Jess
Sorry you can’t join us this time, Jess. I hope you will post pictures of the birthday cake and share the details. Have a wonderful time.
I hope to be able to do the bread challenge—I’m thinking maybe the ricotta bread in my food processor. I’ve always wanted to use it to make bread. And if we decide to do sweet breads I’ll come up with a sweet variation. Cinnamon ricotta rolls, maybe? Hey, how about some sweet rolls and some savory ones with herbs from my garden! Oh boy!
Barbara, I was planning on doing the Ricotta bread too. I have never made it as rolls though. Thanks for the idea. Let me know if you come up with a cinnamon version. I’d love to try it.
