Last night I served my husband Rose’s yellow cake with MBC and he said it was the best cake he had ever eaten in his life! He is 60 and has eaten more than his share of cake and always preferred his family’s box cakes with tub frosting. I cannot tell you how tickled I am about this, that I have lured him away from the dark side! I am no newbie…my copy of TCB is falling apart and splattered and I used to be a restaurant pastry chef…but my first thought last night was God bless Rose! surprised

What a great story!  Glad he finally came over to our side…

What flavor was the mousseline?

store frosting (shudder) blech!

people love that stuff. cupcakes are the rage here in SoCal and last summer the register did a story on the best ones in OC. so we took the tour and brought the “best” home. ALL the cupcakes’ frostings, including Sprinkles, were made with shortening and powdered sugar.  They were disgusting and even the kids left the cupcakes unfinished.

my point? americans are used to the supersweet stuff, but once you change their tastes they’ll never go back.

congrats on your success!

It was just vanilla, but I use spectacular vanilla so it is really good. PS: We are newlyweds (VERY grown-up newlyweds)...it was my daughter’s birthday and she didn’t want her usual chocolate fudge cake this year.

I was thinking you might be newlyweds… 60 years old and just now realized he liked a cake make from your well used copy of The Cake Bible. smile  Congratulations to you two newlyweds, and may many more cakes be enjoyed by your new hubby!!!
