I make the sour cream butter cake (with whole eggs, its like my staple) I need a choc cake for next weekend to make a topsy turvy.. is this cake sturdy enuf for carving/stacking?

I think Rose’s choc butter cake recipe will hold up very well for you.  Have you done a topsy turvy cake before?  How long will the cake be on display?  How many tiers tall will it be?  What kind of frosting do you plan to cover the cake with?

thanks for responding.. I have done only 1 topsy turvy cake before.. It will be on display 2-5 hours. its for my daughters birthday so the only pressure is from me LOL.. the cake will be 2 tiers tall, one choco one yellow or white.  I will ice the cake with SMBC or another non crusting recipe I use

I don’t want something with too faint a chocolate flavor or, on the other end of the spectrum, a deep dark chocolate.  Just a good overall balanced chocolate flavor.
