I did this for my brother’s co-worker. 9x13 chocolate butter cake, filled with chocolate mousseline and frosted with vanilla mousseline. I made a pair of booties out of fondant to be placed on the cake but unfortunately I don’t have a picture of it.

It looks very tall, did you use two layers, or more?

Thank you Julie, Jeannette, Ski and Patricia. I actually had a lot of fun doing this cake. There was no design or template to follow, just my imagination.
Julie, it was the 9x13 chocolate butter cake from TCB chart. I made two layers. I used the Rose Factor x 4 for each layer.
Bill, I am sorry but I have no idea why you can’t see the picture. Maybe you could try on another computer?????

It’s glorious, Rozanne.  Did you do all the decorating free-hand?  I’m filled with admiration.

Annie, Bill and Cass thank you for the compliments smile

Annie, yes I did it all free-hand. I think that’s what made it fun.

Well done Rozanne!  And let’s orgabize a movement of free handed cake decorators!  My sister always says that I can’t take cake orders because I can never make something exactly as drawn by the customer or copied from a picture.  She is totally right!  I loved Patrincia comment on great way to practice piping, I have the full set of tips which most never used.  I may need to make a wolrd cake with beautiful patch quilt piping like yours, indeed a universe cake has been requested that I make.

For those who love vanilla mousseline and haven’t found what to use for liqueur, house of grand marnier Navan french cognac is the choice.  I’ve tried it and indeed Rose recommends it in the new book.

I always find great comments and collaborations on thus forum, love keep coming back and alway find great inspiration.

Thank you Hector! I can totally relate to this. Whenever someone tells me to make a cake I pray they will not give me a design or pattern. I have the hardest time doing this. I need carte blanche when doing a cake.
