Happy 6th birthday to my sweet little girl!  I made a beach themed cake.  3 16"x12” sheet layers, one chocolate butter and two yellow butter.  I stacked one yellow layer with the chocolate, filling it with MBC flavored with a tropical punch oil.  It was actually quite tasty, not too sweet.  The remaining yellow layer was torted and filled with Nutella MBC.  Then I crumb coated them all together with the punch MBC.  More of the same for a second coating and used even more Nuttella BC to designate the sandy beach.

For the sand itself, I used crumbled banana cake.  Of course the obligatory blue gel for the water, although I did tint the underlayer green and blue.

I made gumpaste beach umbrellas, the beach ball, the palm fronds, and the family. I obviously can’t make bodies so my hubby and I were “submerged” to a great degree.  But the resemblance was spot on! lol

All in all, it turned out very cute.  I took it to church this morning and everyone sang happy birthday and had cake.

It was a lot of work!

Veronica

What a great cake, your daughter must have been so thrilled with it!  I love what you did with the figures- made me chuckle.

Excellent job Veronica, and A Big HAPPY BIRTHDAY to your sweet little one.  Was she pleased as punch? (tee-hee)

I love that you used banana cake for the sand instead of what I’ve seen so often, brown sugar.  Great idea!

Time to start thinking about next year wink.

Awsome cake!  I have tried to sculpt people but have had a hard time with the right consistancy either it is too stiff or too soft and it melts in my hands…. Did you home made gumpaste or store bought?  The cake is adoreable… I am sure your daughter loved it!
