Just to add to Annie’s posting, we were also treated to some lovely, fresh Scottish salmon on our first evening with Annie,, freshly caught in Ullapool, just a few days previous to our visit, my OH hasn’t stopped eulogizing about it!  Beautifully cooked by Annie of course!  We were treated like Royalty the whole of our visit.

Annie - it sounds like you’re the UK’s version of our Martha (Martha Stewart that is).

We took a day trip to vist the local Scotch whisky distillery (Talisker on the Isle of Skye, for those interested) and we ate our sandwiches and a muffin sitting in front of the distillery by the waters edge with the whisky fumes wafting in the breeze.  J’s husband made flasks of Illy coffee just to make sure we were happy - he had had 3 sample tots of whisky so he was happy anyway!  We then went on to visit Dunvegan Castle (seat of the Clan MacLeod) before having dinner at the local Bistro (I know, I know, but it’s actually pretty good!).  As they say in Scotland, “Haste ye back”, Jeannette & hubby!

OMG Annie, I was flipping through an old issue of Bon Appetit magazine and they had an article on the Isle of Skye, featuring Talisker distillery. I was thinking of you as I read it wondering if you were close to it…. and then to read about you and Jeannette going for a day trip there!!! What a coincidence!

What a coincidence!  Annie showed me that very copy of Bon Appetit while I was staying with her because there were other places reviewed in that copy that we both knew of.  The whole of the area around there is absolutely beautiful, I think everyone should have the opportunity to visit there before they leave this earth!

Hm, I wish I could offer to host our hypothetical pot-luck—located near Madison, Wisconsin. But I have a small house and my guest room only sleeps one. Still, there are lots of hotels and bed-and-breakfasts in the area…the scenery is not as exciting as the Isle of Skye, but we have some good dairy products and beer. And the Madison restaurant scene is great!
