Thank you so much, Annie, Shimi and Rozanne! Yes Annie, I did use a couple of trailing leaf pieces on the wedding cake—not from this batch but a couple I did on the day and slapped on either side of the 6” tier. It was all I had time for at the end. So the next day, it was pure therapy to take my time and pipe the patterns you see above. Used them on the test cake before photographing it, then delivering slices to my mother and a couple of friends.

Annie, I sent you a pm about the double bake-off threads this month. Maybe we can dream up a solution? Anybody else got ideas?

Annie I’ve been longing to see this cake since you described it to me and it is just as I imagined, gorgeous!  And I know where it was photograghed now having been in your wonderful kitchen!  I am so pleased it turned out so well for you, not that I had any misgivings after seeing all your other offerings,  I just wish I was up there this week and I could have told you if it tastes as good as it looks!  LOL!  Glad you got your internet back too.

Ski, this recipe is in Rose’s A Passion for Chocolate, which she adapted for the Bernachons.  It is also, with only a slight modification to the ganache, in the new book, Heavenly Cakes.  One could also make a similar version from TCB, using dacquoise and dark ganache.

Travis Smith sounds like the best option to merge the threads, but if that doesn’t work, we could divide up by whether the projects are chocolate decorations (Carol’s thread) or chocolate (without decorations made of chocolate- Annie’s thread).

oh another book i don’t have!!  i really need to get on this. I would love to eat that cake you made right about now…

Thanks, everyone. Annie had a brief window to answer my pm yesterday, just long enough to say she’d received it. She’s still having computer problems, but hoped to have it fixed today. Contacting Travis was one of the ideas I put to her. Maybe I’ll just go ahead and do that. If merging isn’t possible, he may be able to rename the two threads as per your suggestion, Julie. Good idea!

Thanks for compliment, Patricia. I truly love working with chocolate. Those worked well for the purpose, but one of the things I want to improve is being able to do finer lines than that. Too much glycerine perhaps? The chocolate piped so thickly! More later.
