Here’s my contribution for the September bake-off. It was the cake I made for my Mum’s b’day last week.
Cake: Chocolate cake from TCB (10” Rose Factor)
Filling: Caramel Ganache from RHC
The cake was frosted with Dark chocolate ganache from TCB
Laquer Glaze from RHC
I absolutely LOVE the glaze. It got rave reviews from everyone. They couldn’t stop talking about how shiny it was. Thanks again to Rose for a wonderful recipe. Thank you also to Zach for perfecting it and to Hector for teasing us so much with this glaze before the book was released. The moment I saw his cake I decided it was the first thing I would make from the new book. Thank you Woody for testing all the recipes so meticulously. (I sound like I just won an Academy Award )
Wow, Wow, Wow!!! No wonder you got rave reviews! Well done, Rozanne.
You forgot to include Love as one of the ingredients. It’s written all over that beautiful cake. Your Mum must have been thrilled and so proud of you! I know that I am. And can barely curb my impatience now for the new book. Tuesday, Tuesday, Tuesday….. patience is a virtue, good things are worth waiting for, ommmmmm…..
OOOHHHHHH, Rozanne, that is beautiful, your mother must feel well loved! I just wish I could taste it, but perhaps I will be able to have a go at making it next week!!! Yes, at long last I have had confirmation that my book has been despatched, it should arrive early next week.
What is going to be your next cake from the new book? Actually I just realized, you said the recipe for the cake is in the CB, so I have no excuse, I should have made it already!LOL!
Rozanne, it is gorgeous! And it sounds absolutely delicious- I also have my eye on the caramel ganache, yum.
How did you decorate the base? It almost looks like it is wearing an elegant maribou trim. I like the contrast of the highly textured trim against the smoothest, glossiest glaze.
Thank you Carol, Jeannette, Julie and Matthew. My mum loved the cake. I wanted to make something special for her and I’m glad I got the book before her b’day.
Julie, I used shaved chocolate (with the microplane) for the “trim”.
Ahhhh…. did you hear me gasp Rozanne???? Your cake looks soooooooooooooo good!!!!! I can’t make out how you decorated the base of the cake - what did you do?
Oh me, oh my, Rozanne, that is one beautiful cake. I am almost dying for wanting to know how this glaze is made and expect my book tomorrow. Jeannette got hers today and they were shipped the same day, so…. Rozanne, do you have a picture of a slice? Was it very difficult (emotionally, I mean) to cut into that perfect glaze? I also love your shaved chocolate finish along the base. All I can say is, “Wow”.
Thank you Annie. I’m sending positive thoughts your way so that you’ll get your book tomorrow. Unfortunately, I don’t have a pic of a slice. I always cringe when I see one of my cakes being cut. I try to remind myself that it is meant to be eaten and not a showpiece. But this time, I couldn’t bring myself to watch it being cut. I know it’s silly but I couldn’t help it.
