we have the whole thing taped on youtube, will post soon.  i decided to kill the video, but until my niece and her neighbor asked me for a pen and piece of paper.  they drew a robot machine to help us make cupcakes!  NOW, for that, how could i abandon this project?

Did you use the foil cups on a baking sheet?

i did according to the recipe, my sister brought her muffin pans.  baked on the foil tins still with the paper separators on muffin tins.  because the recipe makes 14 cupcakes, the 2 extra were baked on a baking sheet (no muffin pan), these expanded about 1 inch wide but much flatter tops, and indeed pretty.  i am finishing glazing the rest while the thunderbirds are on the sky!

Beautiful, Hector!  I was smiling thinking of all those friends in the kitchen together.  These seem to embody some of the most noteworthy components from the new book, the innovative chiffon and that beautiful, beautiful glaze.

Glad I didn’t miss the september chocolate bake off.  Baking with guests, specially children is an eye opening…  after 24 hours of the ‘strenghts and weaknesses analysis’ I can say “children turns you into a better baker!”

Children tell the true story.  We video taped, and watching me baking as a team reveals so many baking techniques I take for granted everyone knows how!  Simple things like applying baking spray, turning on and zero out the scale, crack an egg, counting 60 seconds, are hair pulling to explain and tongue biting to watch someone do it!

I think you will love the youtube segments I will start posting, you will see the darker side of Hector, beyond all the pretty photographs you are used to seeing, as we bake away with Rose’s Heavenly Cakes.

Hector, those look amazing!  I didn’t even think of making them because the photo in the book makes them look so flat… almost under the level of the cupcake liner.  So, they’re good huh?  Gee, one more I need to try.  Darn!  Ha ha!

thank you Sarah,

When i saw the picture in the book, i had no idea what those where!!!!!  but I knew the fabulous Deep Passion Chocolate Wedding Cake had also a cupcake recipe, so i took a second look and made them, so glad my pictures are a little more cupcake like!

I worked so hard when I made the Deep Passion Chocolate Wedding Cake (hope you enjoyed my preview posted).  Rose indeed worked it much harder (you know her recipes are perfect and well tested).  Now it is available to us for just the cost of the new book!

the picture on the book is taken from above, and it is a great pictures, just not very cupcake like in general, right?

for some reason my cupcakes are taller, perhaps my liners were smaller, oh well, that is the life story of cupcakes.  be sure to watch my youtube -)

i couldn’t resist watching though i’m in the middle of massive book promotion radio interviews etc etc. what a great break this turned out to be. i smiled through the entire two videos but at the end of the first when josephine had that uhoh look and said 180 when she was supposed to tell you to stop at 118 i laughed out loud. these children are precious and you are an excellent teacher hector. they are so lucky that you make baking fun and informative.
