Your Banana cake looks lovely Jenn!  I haven’t made this one yet, like everyone else I keep looking and thinking I must make that one, only to turn over the page and thinking I must make this one too!!  Decisions, decisions,.....  gradually they will get baked I’m sure! LOL

Beautiful cake Jenn - looks really lovely.  I love the flavor of bananas best when they’re speckled with black spots.

Jenn, your cake looks great.  I think my bananas were a bit more ‘mature’ than yours as my cake is quite a bit darker.  Tastes delicious, though, doesn’t it?

Rozanne - go for it!

The book says that this frosting pipes beautifully.  Since it’s a one-layer cake, it’s the perfect size for a single friend’s birthday (LOVES banana-anything), but can some of you throw out ideas for how I could make it look just a bit more celebratory?

Any chance of you topping the single layer with a smaller single layer?  If not, you could do a swirly design on top like this.

One thing to keep in mind is that the frosting is pretty sweet. I know frosting is supposed to be sweet but the banana cake itself is not very sweet so if the cake is fully covered in frosting I would imagine that the frosting flavor would completely overpower the banana cake.

Good reminder, Jenn, thanks.

I am considering circles of rosettes on the top, or maybe open stars with something in the middle (not dragees, but something), and leaving sides plain.
