Hi, here’s the reason for which I have been asking questions about large rectangular cakes.
This cake was made for my Mom’s 80th birthday and it is an oratory of Saint Joseph (my mother’s devotion).
It is Rose’s White Velvet cake and the filling is mousseline (with blueberry puree).
It has succeeded in resisting to the 100 F of Rio de Janeiro’s summer.
I would like to share it with you and thank again for those who have helped answering my questions.

Wow! Incredible!

Michelangelo at least. It looks like a work of art from Florence!

What was your Mom’s reaction or is she used to your cakes by now?

And do tell about the challenges you faced in making this.

MY MOTHER WAS REALLY SURPRISED BECAUSE I HAD NEVER DONE SUCH A BIG AND ‘GOLDY’ CAKE.
The greatest challenge was to bake, cut and fill the cakes because it was new for me.
Spme ornaments are a little difficult, but I did them in advance and I worked slowly.
I AM VERY HAPPY THAT YOU HAVE LIKED IT.
Thanks!!

Thank you, Liza,
but I am still learning too. I did the ornements in great advance, which allowed me to work very slowly and learning while working.
OF COURSE, YOU SHALL GO ON!!
Thank you very much.

Please, DO continue to post pictures because it was exactly because you all post and help, by showing works and answerting questions, that I could achieve this work.
Thank you!

What a beautiful cake and tribute to your mother.  I hope you do post more pictures of it.  How did you do the picture of St. Joseph?
