Felix, this cake is so amazing it must have been incredibly difficult for you to see it cut up and eaten!  Please tell us more about how you made the picture and the gold rope-work etc.  It takes my breath away.  Congratulations.

What a beautiful cake and tribute to your mother.  I hope you do post more pictures of it.  How did you do the picture of St. Joseph?

Thank you!!
The picture of Saint Joseph was edible-ink printed and covered by hand with sparkle gel, giving the effect of stained glass.

Felix I have seen alot of beautiful cakes but that is extraordinarily exquisite. The image of Christ with St. Joseph is a beautiful one as well. Just gorgeous.

Thank you!  Your comment makes me want to continue with this work in which I am in love.

Thank you very much.
The picture was edible-ink printed in rice-paper, then covered with sparkle gel in many colours to give the stained glass effect.
The gold rope was made with a silicon mold, painted with gold dust and the jewels are isomalt.
I am very happy that you have enjoyed my work!

Gorgeous, incredible cake, Felix!  Do tell us how you did the decoration.

Hi, Jullie
Thank you!
The decorations are partially molds, partially cellshapes, partially handmade (curlicues and others).
Golden effect is artiificial gold dust, except for the big cross, which was covered with real gold in flakes.
The St. Joseph picture was printed in rice-paper than covered with sparkle gel, for the stained glass effect.
I am glad you enjoyed my work!!

Thank you!!
It was really a hard work, specially because I had never made such a huge rectangular cake (24’), whick is dificult to level in the pan during baking, and also very difficult to cut for filling. The ornaments were also a challenge for me, but I made them in advance, wich gave me time for experiencing and perfectioning.
I am glad that you have enjoyed the final result.
