My new kitchen scale just arrived, a KD-8000 made by My Weigh. I’m thrilled with it—it will make my baking so much easier and more accurate. I first learned about My Weigh on this forum. Thank you to all the members who share baking and equipment info with the rest of us.

What did it cost?

Fabulous! I’ve been after the KD7000 for ages but you can’t get it in Australia without paying a massive amount for shipping (equal to cost of the scales itself).

We are definitely on the same page! I saw the scales from that site too. I emailed them asking whether they were able to sell the 7000 as there were some other search results which indicated they used to, but they never replied to me. 
I did particularly like the 7000 because the buttons are covered in the plastic shield.

If you can’t find scales with a plastic cover, you can always put clear plastic wrap, like Saran brand, over the buttons.

I don’t understand places that never reply. Do they want our business or what?

I’ve a friend in the States who is coming to visit so I may ask if she can kindly transport it for me. I have been eyeing the 7000 for so long that I’m not going to give up now.  I’ve been persevering so far with a set of scales with an auto-turn-off which drives me absolutely mad ... it turns itself off just as I have started adding some ingredient to a bowl full of other ingredients.

Whenever I am thinking of buying something online, I email them with a question and see how quickly they get back to me to gauge whether I should trust buying from them.

Congratulations, Kathleen!  I got the same scale a few weeks ago and love it.  I love being able to measure to the gram!  My family thinks I’m weird for this.
