My take on the Rose Trellis cake from TCB.  I made a tiny 6 inch one.  Made piping the trellis a lot harder, had to rework the design because it was so small.  I still have to attach the trellis, but this is a picture of what it’ll hopefully look like when finished.  I feel kinda accomplished now that I’m done, this was a very time consuming cake to make.

Finally finished, here’s the completed cake.  Hopefully when i transport it, the rose trellis won’t break.  *crosses fingers*

What a BEAUTIFUL cake, you should be very pleased with the result!  It looks so delicate and fragile.  Is it for any particular occasion or iis it just a practice piece?

Thanks for the comments everyone.  I’m pretty proud, was the hardest cake I made to date, when i started it I started with the rose trellis part i thought I wouldn’t be able to do it cause it kept falling apart, but it worked out in the end so I was extremely happy.  I made it for a friend’s birthday, giving it to her tomorrow, hope she likes it.

yup, golden cream cake with strawberry buttercream.  It worked out perfectly cause the recipe was for 1 9” round which fits in 2 6” rounds perfectly so I didn’t have to do adjustments.  so I went with it.  Then i was thinking if I should be lazy and use American buttercream, which i used to make the rose on top, but figured I’ll go the extra mile and just make neoclassic buttercream for the inside and use the American for decorations only.  I think its elegant but at the same time i feel like something is missing, like maybe its a little too plain.  But its better to air on the side of less then go overboard and make the cake look too busy.

It’s so pretty. I don’t think it’s plain, I think it’s simple and elegant. I love the color combo of the white cake, white trellis, and pink roses. The roses look perfect too! Your friend is very lucky.

Oh my goodness. This is just beautiful!  I’m soooo impressed.  I have been looking at the picture of this cake in the book for years, and I think about doing it…and then it just seems like it will be too much work and too difficult!  Good for you!  Amazing.
