Thank you startfromscratch, I had always wanted to make butter at least once, but actually ended up enjoying the buttermilk the most. It is a fun, easy project.

I know I’m late to this thread, but I had to chime in to agree with Barbara and Rachel. I also prefer to use a yogurt-milk mixture because it simulates the thick texture of buttermilk better than a milk-vinegar combination. Either option will work, though.
