Italian Butter Cookies

I’ve been trying to make the italian butter cookies that I’ve always bought in NY bakeries.  I found a recipe online.  Piped out the dough, baked them, sandwiched them with raspberry jam, dipped them in chocolate and sprinkles.  They looked great!  Didn’t taste right.  Does anyone have a recipe for these?

I tried to post a pic…can’t seem to get it to work.  Perhaps there a problem with the computer at the hospital where I’m working now (Notice how hard I’m working right now!  LOL)

A lot of Italian cookie recipes are based on “pasta frolla”—have you taken a look at some Italian dessert cookbooks? I love Nick Malgieri’s “Great Italian Desserts.”

I didn’t look in that book.  I don’t think they are really “Italian”.  I think they are a new york thing…that are just called Italian butter cookies.  In any event, I sent Nick Malgieri an email through his website, perhaps he will answer!
