I’m still trying to decide what to make for this Year’s Valentine’s Day. It HAS to be chocolate for us—but what, exactly?

I’m thinking a small batch of chocolate truffles—and something else as well—pots de creme? Chocolate cake? Chocolate cream pie? Really chocolatey brownies? ... decisions, decisions…

So, what do all of you folks like to make for Valentine’s Day?

What she wants is a Red Velvet two-layer cake made in heart shaped pans, with cream cheese frosting. There’s a bit of cocoa powder in the cake, but not really a chocolate taste. Since I have a good recipe from Cook’s Country for both, that’s what she’ll get. (If you do that recipe, it’s better made a day or two ahead, I’m baking the cake Tuesday.)

Coeur à la crème - mmmmmmmmm!  (with Rose’s Raspberry or strawberry puree of course).

I am making French Onion soup (making it tonight) Coq aux Vin (make it last night )...both taste better with a rest in the fridge for a day or two.  For dessert, Hand made truffles made with Scharffen Berger chocolate and Congnac and Home Made coffee ice cream.  Did the truffles last night…couldn’t resist eating some…lol.  I put in a lot of congnac,,,each is like a little mini cocktail! (i don’t drink…so I’m an alcohol woos)
