hearth bread sponge left too long?

i left my sponge on the counter overnight by accident instead of refrigerating it. Can I still do something with it?

edit: just mixed & let it rise 1 hour. Firstly the smell was divine, and it rose fine. Just popped it in the fridge until tomorrow.

I have recipes that specify the sponge should be left out overnight at room temp. Mind you, they’re probably not thinking of a room in the tropics!  smile  Sounds like your bread is none the worse for its time on the counter.
