I apologize ahead of time for this post, as it is very juvenile and nasty compared to the nature of this site and the work that results from it, but in the same, I had to share.
I was asked by a local pest control company to make a bug cake for an upcoming Home and Garden Fair in Clovis, NM. I was happy to oblige, and used Rose’s Chocolate Butter Cake Base recipe in the back of TCB. It was a carved cake, so I had to freeze it for about an hour so it would tolerate the knife.
It didn’t turn out exactly as I envisioned but close enough, and people loved it! Or hated it, lol, because after all it does look like an icky bug. Funny story, at the show one person whacked it with a yard stick thinking it wasn’t a cake! Everyone who knew it was a cake gasped, luckily it only suffered a tiny dent in it’s head. The people that won this at the end of the event loved it, and raved about it’s moisture content, rich chocolate fudgey flavor and fluffiness. It was the same cake batter that got me the terrible review with the mario cake. GO figure! Anyhow, here it is! We put cake crumbs all around it’s feet so it looked like it was trudging through the muck. Niiice. Eww.
