So I got this thing in the mail, asking if I want to join the cooking club of america. It basically says that If I join, it costs $1 a month, and I will get a monthly magazine, as well as 2 free gifts (a cocoa collection and a grater).  It also says that you will get to test products (like bread machines, gadgets etc) and if you fill a questionnaire out about each product you get to keep them. THis sounds too good to be true, has anyone ever joined something like this?? It also says if you cancel within the first year, you will get ALL your fees (all your dollars) back.
Sounds too good to be true!! it must be, right!?

Let me know if anyone has heard of this before…...even if it is a scam i got a nice spaghetti measurer/bowl scraper!!

Skii, is this the one you’re referring to?

If so, it looks like they are legit. They are owned by North American Media Group:
http://www.northamericanmediagroup.com/PrintOverview/ck_printoverview.htm

I looked it up on BBB and they are even registered there:
http://www.bbb.org/minnesota/business-reviews/clubs/north-american-membership-group-in-minnetonka-mn-2735

Beware, though, it looks like they have a lot of complains about contracts and billing. Here is a quote from the BBB page:

“The company has been the subject of complaints stating that consumers have received invoices/collection notices without having received the product, or without having even ordered anything. Consumers also state that they have made requests to cancel subscriptions or memberships without having action taken. The company has responded to all complaints presented by the bureau, by honoring requests to cancel membership, discontinuing billing and/or collection efforts, and providing refunds whenever due.”

It’s your decision of course, but my advise is not to join. Even though you’d be able to complain through BBB, it would be quite a hassle.

That’s just my 2 cents. Hope it helps smile.
