It looks great. That is the type of cake I am interested in baking.  I prefer to bake with whole wheat flour..can it be substituted for the bleached cake flour in the recipes or are there specific recipes which use whole wheat flour?

Missyjean, I used half white whole wheat and half pastry flour. There is one store where I can get whole wheat cake flour, that would probably be best for this cake. I would not use standard whole wheat.

I have whole wheat pastry flour..is that the same thing as whole wheat cake flour?

No, that’s even lower in gluten. You can try a mixture of pastry and preferrably white whole wheat, or perhaps it’ll work with the pastry flour by itself. You’ll have to experiment a little.
