I finally tried the White Velvet cake after I don’t know how long! Wow, what an amazing texture! I just wish it was a tad bit sweeter. Cookies and cream filling and (vanilla) mousseline icing. All the decorations are marshmallow fondant, only inedible items are the dowels for the signs, tree and the stakes in the garden. The pond and honey are piping gel, the garden soil is crushed Oreos, the cattails (punks, my Dad calls them!) are fondant on thin lunguini! I used hearts instead of apples for the teachers’ names on the front of the cake. Thanks for looking!

The theme was supposed to be All Things Bright and Beautiful but I procrastinated in making the fondant pieces, I just had been requested to make a bear and rabbits (only did one!) by my daughter. I was running short on room anyhoo!

Oh, also, I made cupcakes with the extra batter and a day later the wrappers pulled away from the cupcakes, has anyone had this happen? It happened to all of the cupcakes. . . ??

What an adorable cake!  I would have loved to have seen the faces of the kids/teachers when they first got a look at this.  They must have been fascinated by it.

The bear with the honey is just too cute!

You’ve set the bar high for all graduation cakes that you make for your daughter from now on smile

What a special cake!  It looks fantastic, and I love the theme, too.

Uh-Oh, now you’ve done it- they’re going to ask you to do this every year!  cheese

Absolute perfection, and I agree, the bear and honey are my favorite.  Congratulations to your little one on graduating!

Gorgeous cake Bernadette! You are VERY artistic. How did you get the bear and the carrot so shiny?

Thank you all so much, you’re very kind! I saw the kids around the cake this morning but didn’t hear any reaction, per se. . .

Bill, yes, AHHHH! LOL

Rozanne, one of my friends asked me the same, I didn’t do anything but I think it’s just from adding too much gel to the fondant, really! The bear stayed that way and I was expecting him to dry out.

Thanks everyone! smile
