Anne- I’m american, but also 100% engineer. At least the stereotype for engineers would have it that obsessive attention to detail goes along with the engineer type of personality. I don’t know about that, but I do like to make things look nice.

Loopy- you should try fondant! I was surprised how manageable and fun it was to work with. Not that I did anything too advanced, and I still need a lot more practice getting the creases out toward the bottom of the cakes, but it was much better than I was anticipating. Definitely a good choice for hot weather over buttercream since the fondant actually likes to be hot.

Not 100% .....  you evidently have a good bit of artist in you!  Your cakes are just so beautiful!  Not that engineering isn’t an art, itself, of course!

I feel the same way when I make the recipes.  I’m always saying to people when they say how good a Rose cake is, “Isn’t it awesome? I mean, I can say this, because I just followed the recipe exactly.  This book is seriously the goods!”

So true Anne.  It’s all about Rose’s talent and her ability to translate her gift, by the written word, to others.

I completely agree, and her amazing sense of balance and proportion in her flavors.  I mean, that woman can design a cake.  The cake parts—without anything on them—are better than anyone else’s completely completed cakes.  My hub is just mad about them, too.
