My daughter is having a little party with a few of her friends this weekend to celebrate her birthday, and I am making cupcakes for her.  ( We are having her birthday cake the following weekend with all of the family )

I really love the cupcake wraps that you can buy, but they are so expensive.  The more fancy ones are a least a dollar each.  So for the two dozen cupcakes I am going to be making I would need to fork out at least $24.00 just for cupcake wraps.  That is just not going to happen.

So I thought that I would try to make my own.  I had a 40% off coupon for Michael’s craft store and bought a pretty paper edge punch from the Martha Stewart collection.  Then I went to Home Sense and found a huge book of thick scrapbooking paper.  I found a template on line for the cupcake wrap ( I made it slightly longer) and traced it on the paper and then used the paper edge punch to make the design around the edges.  This is what it looks like.

Oh, I can’t wait till christmas.  I can make smaller wraps to put truffles and fudge in.  I’m so excited!!!

I had no idea such things existed!

Martha Stewart has a whole collection of them.  I am going back tomorrow with another 40% off coupon to get another one.  The regular price for them here in Ontario is anywhere from $24.00 to $34.00.  Kind of pricey without the coupon.

We have the 40% coupon here in the states as well.

Thanks guys!!  They were really not that hard to make once I had the template made.  I enjoy doing crafty things when I have the time to sit down and be creative.

Your handmade cupcake wrap is beautiful. From the picture it looks like there is an inner lining. Is that a store bought cupcake holder that you used as a base? Thanks for the inspiration. Now I want to make my own also.

Yes it is just a regular cupcake holder inside the wrapper.  I just wanted to see how it was going to look.
