For most of Rose’s recipes, it calls for mixing the dry ingredients for 30 seconds in the mixer.  Am I the only one who has problems with this?  I have the KA Artisan mixer and when I do this, since there is no liquid or butter in it yet, it flies all over the place (on the counter, etc).  Is it okay to just mix it by hand instead?  Thanks!

The goal is to thoroughly incorporate the leavening and salt.  So just use a hand whisk for 30 seconds instead of the mixer. 

My KA doesn’t make the dry ingredients fly out if I keep it on 1.
