Chocolate cake fell in the middle! :(

Hello! I just made two nine inch round chocolate cakes that are a pretty basic recipe….made in one bowl…..they fell in the middle while baking! Any ideas why? Thanks so much!

What recipe? Did you weigh your ingredients? Do you have an extra oven thermometer to verify the oven temperature?

In TCB, it says that common causes of “coarse grain and sunken center” are: oven too cold, batter undermixed, or too much baking powder…any of those seem like likely candidates?
