Hello All,

Do I have to use the whole bottle of Red Food Coloring in the Red Velvet Cake? I don’t need it to be that red but I wonder if omitting some will mess with the chemistry of the cake since it is removing some liquid. The cake is not attractive using that much. What liquid should I increase to substitute?

Thanks for you help in advance

You can sub with water, if you don’t want to use all the color.

I once used 2x as much by accident!!!!!

Good luck!  RVC!  Yum!

Note:  I find that Yoplait’s Red Velvet Cake yogurt tastes more like cherry hard candies than red velvet cake.

Thanks Anne so much, that is exactly what I was thinking. Yeah I don’t like Yoplait’s Red Velvet because I don’t know any RVC that tastes like that YUCK!!

I have made it many times with the equivalent amount of water instead of the red food colouring and it always turns out yummy.

Rose also says in the recipe that you can also use beet juice in place of food coloring.
