I need help with a recipe for a pineapple upside down cake that I got from my favorite cookbook. The ingredients just don’t sound right. I found it odd that it’s under the shortening & butter cakes section, yet the only butter called for is in the topping (but none in the batter itself) I’m afraid to bake the cake because I don’t think it’ll come out right. I’ve never baked a cake that did not have butter/shortening/oil in the batter. The ingredients in the batter are as follows:
1 cup sugar
1 cup flour
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp salt
1 tsp vanilla
1/4 tsp cream of tartar
2 large eggs, separated
1 egg yolk
Does anyone think this recipe sounds right? I really wanna make it cuz it looks so delicious in the picture, but don’t want to waste all the ingredients if it turns out horrible. Any thoughts?
