Any suggestions on where to find relatively cheap vanilla beans online?  The two beans for $15 at mygrocery store will exhaust my baking budget rather quickly!

Hi, Grilling!

Scope this post.  http://www.realbakingwithrose.com/index_ee.php/forums/viewthread/3235/

I got 40 for $17 from NutsOnline.com.  They’re ‘okay’—in other words, I have to use about 1 whole bean per 9x2 cake layer, but, still, that’s pretty cheap—30 cents per layer for vanilla!  You get lots of leftover pods that are wonderful steeped along with tea or coffee!!!

Thanks, Roxanne!  How are they?  The 1/2 lb price is comparable to what I was paying (4 oz—40 beans—$17).

Beanilla is also the only seller I?ve come across for Tonga vanilla beans (which are incredible), and the prices for their Tahitian beans are really, really good.

Thank you!  I found the ones I was getting were ‘okay,’ but I could use a lot of them (1 per cake layer) and still consider it inexpensive.  I’ll try these next time, since the price is about the same—they might be better, which would make them a better value!
