Easy! Delicious! Fun to arrange apples! Everyone loved it!

I used Pink Crisps, and they worked very well with their sweet-tartness. They kept a nice bite.

You can see the difference between the appearance of the cake on the first day (shiny) and after spending the night in the fridge.  Tasted fab, though.  Moist, delicious and apply. 

The cake part, even without any apples or anything, is simply phenomenal.  I made this at the recommendation of Flour Girl—thanks, FB, I love this cake!!

Here’s my apple arrangement in the pan.  This was the hardest part!  I kept pulling them out and throwing them back in the bowl and trading for different slices.  But it was very fun.

The batter wasn’t as high as the ‘side apples,’ but it rose above them in the oven, and all was well.

Anne, it looks delicious and fabulous. Thanks for the photo of before and after refrigeration. The difference is amazing! I don’t think flavor is effected though, right?

I didn’t taste it ‘before,’ so I don’t know if there is a flavor difference.  I can only say that ‘after,’ both the flavor and texture will absolutely wonderful, even if it did look a little different!!  I think the caramel must have just ‘soaked in’ to something—can’t see it in the cake—but it was still there—somehow!!!

That is my daughter’s all-time favorite cake, and now that I see yours, I realize I haven’t made one for her in ages!

That looks really good!  I see you spared no walnuts!!  So which cake does the cake part compare to?  Downy yellow, perhaps?

Thanks, Loop!  Actually, it’s the Sour Cream Butter Cake (TCB p 35) that’s used in the Sour Cream Coffee Cake (TCB p 90) and the Pineapple Upside Down Cake (TCB p 92).  It’s awesome!!

I’m glad you like it Anne. It is my husband’s favorite. I made it for his birthday cake too.
