I made this over the weekend. It’s the Designer Cherry Pie from PPB except I added 100 grams of blueberries for kicks. The flavor worked well together. I never saw Sour Cherries where I live so I got Sweet Cherries instead and cut the sugar by half. It worked well, the pie is delicious, not too sweet.

One thing I’m confused about is Rose said to make 18 leaves for the top - I didn’t count how many is in the book picture (couldn’t be 18). I think her leaves must be pretty narrow, mine’s a bit wider/fatter so I didn’t make as many.

Dear Jenn
your leaves are so beautiful! I never saw this kind of arrangement before. It’s a wonderful idea and your photo looks perfect! Congratulations.

Beautiful, Jenn!  I love, Love, LOVE those big, wide leaves!!!!!

I hope you made spare leaves, because if I were arm’s length from that pie, and you weren’t looking, I would eat all those crunchy crust leaves right off the top.  (heh heh heh)

You are going to suck me into making pies.  I can tell.

That looks incredibly delicious and beautiful!

Shokat and Loopy - thanks! cheese

Anne, I did make extra leaves, about 3 of them and then some scraps were baked. Because as I know my husband, he would not be happy if he has to stare at the pie and can’t touch it because I need to take photographs. So when I make pie, there’s always scraps for him!

Julie, yes there’s still 1/2 a pie left. When do you want to come over? I’ll make some tea! cool smile

That looks gorgeous!  I love the leaves on top.  I think blueberries are a great addition to anything, besides, I love blueberry pie.  It brings back great memories of my grandmother’s blueberry pies.

I got this email today, invited to join a blueberry contest:

Dear Jenn,

I saw your recipe for ?PPB Designer Cherry Blueberry Pie? posted on your blog and thought you might be interested in entering a recipe contest we are running for bloggers.  For more information you can visit:  http://www.blueberrycouncil.com/wp-content/uploads/Blogger_Recipe_Contest_Rules.pdf

Unfortunately, the contest is for original recipe so I can’t enter obviously. It still feels so good to be invited though cheese.
