Hello all, It’s been a while since my last visit to the forum and wow! lots of interesting cakes and recipes.

I want to share with you the latest cake that I made for my best friend. Maybe you can give me some ideas for improvement. Thank you.

Please also check out the video of the cake “in action” here: http://youtu.be/dPvpusqJplw

Improvement?  Are you kidding?  That is amazing!!!!  Great job!  If I could decorate a cake like that I would “quit my day job”.  Congrats!

maybe because I don’t have a day job so I have more free time to decorate my cakes grin

Thanks Flour Girl. I am totally flattered, make me want to warm up my oven and start baking again grin grin grin

The link to Youtube was incorrect in my first post, but it is correct now.

Thanks Darm456, the floating cake was the real challenge. Now, only blowing birthday candles will feel too ordinary grin

Totally awesome cake, Ineke!  Love the balloon-propelled flying house! Bet the girl was so very happy with it smile

What kind of cake/frosting is inside?

Thanks Julie and Yep, she was thrilled grin
I used a chocolate sponge cake, a bit firmer one, with moist marble cake-like texture. I made a 6-inch x 3 inch tall chocolate cake and trimmed it into the house shape. The Cake was not layered, I want it to be compact. I used a thin shorthening frosting just to stick the fondant. It was a fun project grin
