I think Kahlua IS a brand.  Another brand of coffee liqueur is Tia Maria, which what I currently use.  It’s rum-based, but not sure about Kahlua.  I consider them interchangeable in baking; with the small quantities we use, I have a hard time imagining that most people could tell the difference between brands.

Hi Anne,

Yes Kahlua is a brand of coffee liqueur, which is what I use.  ( also tastes great with ice and chocolate milk.  grin )

The brand of amaretto I use is Disaronno.  I am not sure what other brands are out there, but a trip to the liquor store should solve all your problems.

Ha ha ha ha ha!  It certainly might if I start making more brandied cherries like the ones for the DFC w/Midnight Ganache!!!

Thanks, both!  I got Kahlua (and I now know it’s a brand—thanks CT) and Disaronno (or whatever it is).
