Hey everybody!

So, I’ve made something really dumb: I made a chocolate cake and glazed it with ganache when I realized I forgot to take it out the pan! :O

Does anybody know how can I get the cake out in mint condition? Maybe I can freeze it to make the ganache set, and then let it thaw in room temp before eating?

edit: Oh, it has parchment on the bottom and it has came away from the sides of the pan, so what I’m worried about is the beautiful top!

First, McBrownie, HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA!  OMG, you get the new “cake by ordeal” posting!

Now, I think you’ve got something with the freezing idea.  Freeze it until the ganache is firm, and then maybe wave the bottom of the cake over a warm burner to sort of release the parchment and turn it over.

If it doesn’t come out, warm it some more.

This is only theory.

HA! I am victorious! The cake is out!

I have placed the cake in the freezer until the frosting firmed up, got a thin metal spatula, dipped it in hot water and released the sides of the cake. Then, I placed a soft towel on a cooling rack. On top of that I placed a piece of cling [I’m not sure how to write—Seran wrap?] and flipped the cake onto that, quickly took the parchment off, and flipped it again so that the top side is up.

Anne- I am waiting for my “cake by ordeal” medal (:
Thanks!
