I just wanted to share 2 cakes I did this week and they were fun

Poodle Cake
Italian Cream cake w/ strawberry filling & MBC
Poodle was made out of gumpaste and the fur was more MBC

The other cake
White cake w/ alternating layers of strawberry & ABC filling
All butter-cream icing. Ribbons & bows and other details are all edible.

Wow!  That’s a gigantic cake!  I love it that it’s just one diameter, like this big poodle column.  How many layers is it?  You did a fabulous job writing on the side of a cake!  I love the base, too—the radiating lines—are those frosted???

Do you have a pic of the other cake?  I’d love to see it!

Your cake is so smooth.  The piping looks perfect and the script is fabulous.  I, too, wish I could write like that.  What is that on the base?  Is it fondant?  Did you capture the other cake?

Hi Anne, Thank You so much. Yes! All my cakes most times do end up to be about 5 - 6” tall. I use 5 layers of cake sometimes as I do bake a 3” and 2” pan to ensure that I have a lot of cakes in case of a sinking issue or something. Scratch baking is very unpredictable I have learnt No, the lines are actually fondant. I will take pics of the next one I do and post those.

Thank You. Interestingly, this time and the first time this has ever happened to me, My MBC stayed WHITE! Yes! White. I NEVER turned cream/ ivory. Everything was done the same except that my butter was VERY soft and I had to beat it fora while. I am still amazed! Yes, the cake board is fondant. I dod not think I write too good on cakes and it is not my favorite thing to do. I posted the other cake. Sorry!

Wow!  Love the other cake, too!  Love the ribbon and the star up by the letter.  So beautifully done, and I’ll just bet it was delicious!!!
