It’s probably my favorite baked thing.

What’s yours?

(This is a photo of one of my best-ever cakes—I didn’t make it)

I’m more partial to cookies.  I like to eat pies, but they’re more work than cookies, which are so quick to make and then easy to share.

I’ve made every thing over the years but right now I’m more into cakes but there was a time when all I did was bake bread. smile
I’m pretty much a newbie at making cakes but here are my photos:

Here are my breads:

I’ll be making decorated cookies for the first time in a few days.

At the beginning of the Pie and Pastry Bible, Rose says there are two kinds of people - cake people and pie people.  I’m a pie person - DH is a cake person.  That’s fine, because I get to bake both!  As a matter of fact, I bake bread too, because my youngest son (the only chick left in the nest) doesn’t have much of a sweet tooth and is definitely a bread person.  He’s partial to Rose’s Soft White Sandwich loaf and lovely Butter-Dipped Dinner Rolls.

Hmm, tough question.  I guess I’m a bread person, followed by cake, pie, and then cookies, but I would hate to do without any of them.

Cake for sure - followed by bread, pie, and cookies.

If I had to choose, I guess I’d say I’m a Pie person.

In order of preference, Pie, then bread, then cookies and cake.

It must be said, however, I refuse to live in a world without all four. Life would just be too bleak.

The only problem with cake, is that if you make a wonderful giant cake, then you need to find people to help you eat it, and everyone I know is trying to avoid extra calories, and they somehow find the willpower to just say no, thanks.

Pie, on the other hand, is more compact, so even one little piece makes a big dent in the total amount available, and somehow the whole thing manages to get eaten without too much begging or trauma.

Cookies are great because they’re easy to share. Put a few in a plastic baggie, and say, here, just take a few.

Bread is the staff of life, and since most bread recipes can be adapted into rolls,  or just cut into slices, it’s easy to share.

I like baking cakes most, but I could never aspire to decorating them like Susie does!  The cakes I make are usually cakes to be eaten by the family, who have all left home now, so I tend to make cakes that last, such as fruit cakes or gingerbread and carrot cakes, what we call Cut and Come again cakes.  Other than that I like to make muffins and traybakes because I can freeze what us two old codgers can’t accomodate in one day! LOL

I like doing cakes the most.  Years ago I took a cake decorating class - it was so much fun.  But I was young so probably didn’t take it as seriously as I would now.

No doubt, it has to be bread making. Nearly every day I bake my own bread in the oven and sometimes I use the bbm, I like to try different things like banana bread, potatoe bread, currants bread, rolls etc etc.  second place will be cakes.

I enjoy baking period. But if I have to chose it is cakes, bread, pies and then cookies. I recently started selling my cakes and it is interesting how many people think what I am doing is unique because it is a home based business and I deliver. My cakes are not the decorated types of cakes, they are comfort cakes like pound cakes, cheese cakes, bundt cakes, muffins and cupcakes. I do put icing on cakes but it is optional and done for such cakes as Red Velvet, Carrot Cake, German Chocolate Cake etc. The name of my cake business is “Just Plain Cakes”. It is a passion and a way to relax believe it or not. When I make bread it is done without the use of a bread machine. I think that’s cheating.

I like making pies but don’t enjoy making the crust, so I cheat and by the crust found in the dairy section or even the frozen Marie Callender or Pepperidge Farm crusts.

As for cookies, putting the batter together is definitely easy but the endless batches for the oven drive me a little crazy.

Well that’s my two cents.

It was great reading all the other posts.
