I don’t recollect where I originally got this recipe, but I modified it.
In a Cuisinart whir these dry ingredients with the chopper blade:
2 cups flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
¼ teaspoon salt
¼ cup white sugar
Add wet ingredients and mix till resembles coarse sand (don’t overmix):
1/3 cup cold butter diced in cubes
1 beaten egg
1 teaspoon vanilla
½ cup buttermilk
Empty on to a sheet of waxed paper, add raisins (about ½ cup) and pat dough circle about 1” high
Cut with a knife into 10 pieces and put on a baking sheet
Glaze before baking by brushing with: 1 beaten egg, 1 tablespoon milk, and sprinkle with granulated sugar
Bake in a 375 degrees oven for 18 minutes
